Winter weather can be beautiful—but for our neighbors experiencing homelessness, snow and freezing temperatures bring serious risk.

As cold and icy conditions settle into Lexington, Lighthouse Ministries is responding by opening our facility as an overnight warming center, offering safety, warmth, and care during the coldest nights.

Lighthouse Warming Center Details

  • Location: 190 Spruce Street
  • Hours: 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Dates: Wednesday, January 28 through Sunday, February 1
    (Closing Monday morning, February 2)

Guests staying overnight are also invited to join us for our 5:30 PM dinner meal each evening, and normal meal service is expected to resume beginning Wednesday.

A Coordinated Community Effort

Lighthouse is grateful to work alongside trusted partners across our city who are serving people during this weather event. The Catholic Action Center will continue operating its warming center at 1050 Goodwin Drive until 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, the New Life Day Center remains open during daytime hours, and Hope Center is providing street outreach and transportation support.

These efforts are coordinated with the City of Lexington’s Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention, ensuring that resources are available, connected, and communicated clearly to those who need them most.

Why This Matters

Cold weather doesn’t just make life uncomfortable—it can be life-threatening. A warm place to sleep, a hot meal, and a safe environment can mean the difference between crisis and survival.

At Lighthouse, our mission is simple: to be present when the need is greatest. This winter response is one way we continue living that mission.

If you’d like to support this work, please consider sharing this information, praying for our guests and staff, or supporting Lighthouse Ministries financially.

Together, we can help our neighbors get through the cold—one warm night at a time.
